Press Attack!

Just how far are the English press going to take this one?

FACT - Steven Gerrard has already said Ronaldo asked the referee 'Did you see that?'
FACT - The referee says Ronaldo had no influence in his decision
FACT - Ronaldo says he didn't try to get anyone sent off
FACT - Rooney's foot did end up in Carvalho's nuts!

Ronaldo has been known to dive, but he's by no means the worst offender, and his scintillating skills, pace and ability more than make up for it. He certainly doesn't dive that much for Man United, and hes the most fouled player in the Premiership - defenders just can't handle him!

Henry went down clutching his face agaisnt Spain, and dived last night but was branded a hero in the Press, including the Guardian, who are normally reasonably intelligent! On last night's penalty claims,in the space of two paragraphs, they say that Ronaldo and Henry both had minimal contact. Ronaldo 'needed little perssuasion' to go down, whilst Henry 'did what all forwards do.' If you accept everybody does it then why vilify Cristiano?!

The Mirror opened with "DIVE cheat Cristiano Ronaldo had the smile wiped off his face twice last night as Zinedine Zidane ended Portugal's World Cup - and Real Madrid pulled out of the race to sign the little winker." Anyone would think he'd shot someone, but the truth is that all he did was protect his teammate (Carvalho), and why not - what loyalty does he owe England?

The Sun were equally classy with "ENGLAND fans were rejoicing as the World Cup waved goodbye and good riddance to sly Portugal winker Cristiano Ronaldo. The slimy winger blubbed after he and and his diving pals were dumped out by Zinedine Zidane’s 33rd-minute penalty."

Will they get off Ronaldo's back? They have a whole summer of newspapers to sell without any matches, sonot any time soon.

Poor Ronny.
