Ronaldo: Fans haven't forgotten

Cristiano Ronaldo was relieved that the Manchester United fans were applauding rather than booing him as he ran out on to the pitch at Old Trafford for the first time this season - with the Portuguese superstar unsure of the fans reacion following a lengthy transfer saga that looks set to re-ignite this winter, summer, etc.

Ronaldo told The Sun: “In the game when I came back against Villarreal I wasn’t nervous but just a bit excited to see how the fans would react to me.

“Thank God things went well.

“This shows people have not forgotten all the good things we’ve done together and I’m very happy with that.”

However, the speculation over his future has not completely died down with Real coach Bernd Schuster this weekend indicating his hope that Ronaldo will be playing at the Bernabeu next season.
