14th Most Valuable
Roy Keane's testimonial may have been just a friendly in real terms, but both teams took it much more seriously than that! Celtic pulled all their players out of international commitments, whilst United were still at full strength, with the season ending just two days ago. Full strength apart from Ruud that it, who Keano seemed to by sympathising with, having been through the similar bust-up rountine with Fergie himself.
Keane ran out in a guard of honour in front of 70,000 people at Old Trafford - his and the fans last chance to say goodbye, although he is not one of those players who loves the attention.
He played the first half for the Hoops (Celtic) before switching sides at half-time to play in the famous red jersey.
Ten minutes into the second half a quick interchange of passing by Giggs and Scholes set Ronaldo free, and he casually slotted the ball past Boruc, straight through his legs! The game petered out from there, and Keane was given a standing ovation from the Old Trafford knowledgable crowd, which contained some 30,000 celtic fans - the away largest support ever!
Ronny will now concentrate on his Poruguese commitments, with their preparation for the World Cup starting in a matter of days.
