Barca Turned Ronaldo Down

Cristiano Ronaldo may be in the form of his life this season, and to be fair, he didn't end the last one too badly either, but that wasn't enough to convince Barcelona to take a punt on him.

Even before the World Cup, where Ronaldo had some great matches and surely put his value up by £10 million before the Rooney fracas marred his best tournament to date, Barcelona were said to be sniffing around Ronny.

And after the tournament came the explosion of Press hatred that had even this site believing that Cristiano Ronaldo would be playing in different colours this time around - he would be hounded out by the fans and media before too long, we thought.

But the truth is that Barcelona were never really interested, and even went as far as to put a move for Cristiano on ice in favour of Thierry Henry!

"Barca turned him down because they told me they were considering signing Arsenal's Thierry Henry," his agent Jorge Mendes told Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo.

"It's impossible he will go there now because United wouldn't let him leave, not for all the money in the world."

"Cristiano is happy in the Premiership and he will not put pressure to force a departure."

Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to stay for some time yet, thankfully!
