Gareth Bale wants to be Cloned as Ronaldo
Former Tottenham winger Gareth Bale says that he wants to become as good as Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese superstar is widely considered as the best player in the world right now. He is on the verge of lifting his third FIFA Ballon d’Or award after being named in the shortlist for this coveted trophy. His first award came when he was a Manchester United player, but not many expected him to improve as well as he has done in the last few years after an £ 80 million move to Real Madrid. Ronaldo’s goal tally each season has continuously improved and he is on course to comfortably exceeding the 53 goals he scored last season.
Bale may have cost more than Ronaldo after making a move from Tottenham last summer, but he has clearly accepted the fact that Ronaldo is leagues ahead of him. He says that he is trying to reach the level of Ronaldo in the future. The Wales international may have produced some tremendous performance as especially in the Copa del Rey and Champions League finals, but he managed only 22 goals in his debut season. Ronaldo scored 33 in his first season in Madrid. He is on course to becoming the highest goalscorer in the Champions League.
"I'm improving all the time and trying to get to the level Cristiano's at.The amount of goals he scores and what he does for the team is incredible.Nobody is living up to that at. At the moment he's on another level to everyone else.By seeing him in training and in games it gives me that kind of platform to aim for and keep improving, and hopefully one day I can get there. If you don't want to be the world's best you probably shouldn't be playing football," said Bale.
