Juventus star aiming to win the Champions League this season

Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi has spoken about his ambition of winning the Champions League with the club.

The France international joined the Bianconeri from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017 and he has since been an influential figure from the starting lineup despite entering the twilight of his professional career.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Matuidi insisted that he made the right choice to join the Turin giants. He added that he has the ultimate dream of winning the Champions League which he is hoping to fulfil with the Bianconeri, he told: “Arriving in Turin was a step forward for my career, without offending PSG who are a great club. In this club, I have everything to give my best, it's appropriate for me. At Juventus, I can cultivate the ambition to win Champions League.”

The Bianconeri witnessed a change in the head coach earlier this summer after Max Allegri quit the club after five years in charge. Under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri, they have continued to keep a stronghold in the Serie A but they are nonetheless facing a tough tussle with Inter Milan going neck-to-neck after 17 games into the campaign.
Elsewhere, Juventus have comfortably reached the round of 16 stage of the Champions League and they should be favourites to qualify for the last eight of the competition after being drawn against Lyon. The Bianconeri are scheduled to face Lazio in the Italian Super Cup this weekend before they head into the winter break.

Lazio have already beaten them once on the road this season and the Bianconeri can anticipate a tough contest with Ciro Immobile in splendid form upfront for the Capital outfit. The Rome-based club are widely regarded as the dark horses for the Serie A title. They are presently just six points adrift of the top of the table with a game in hand.
