Madeira Crisis

Cristiano Ronaldo was stunned yesterday when terrible storms caused floods and mud-slides in his home island of Madeira (a Portuguese colony off the coast of Africa).

With cars and people smashed around by the water as if they were weigghtless, Ronaldo has admitted he was worried for his family, and wants to do all he can to help.

"Madeira is where I grew up and where all my family is. I am worried. I couldn't believed it when I watched it on TV. I wish to help any way I can."

"Nobody can be indifferent to such a tragedy, especially me. I was born and raised on the island. It's given me so much. This is why I want to make myself available to help in whatever possible way. I would like to help official bodies and organisations to minimize the effects of this great tragedy and to get over them as soon as possible."
