Ronaldo: I'm on Form
Cristiano Ronaldo is hitting the peak of his game at exactly the right time - with the World Player of the Year firing United to the Premier League title and Champions League Final.
“In the last few games I’ve felt really, really good. This is a crucial time in the season and the big games are all coming up for us.
"I have always believed we were going to win it again. That is what we have been trying to do and now we are in the final, so we have a great opportunity.
"It was not an easy match. Arsenal are a good team, so to score three goals at their own ground is just amazing. The whole team were superb and we deserve to be in the final."
He saved some sympathy for Manuel Almunia, who failedto deal with his swerving free-kick. "The keeper can always do better but these shots are difficult to save because the ball moves so much these days. Even when I practise free-kicks in training it’s very difficult for our keeper.â€
Ronaldo was also sorry for Darren Fletcher who was harshly sent off, meaning he'll miss the Champions League Final. "I am tremendously disappointed for Darren," added Ronaldo. "He has played in most of the games and now he cannot play in the final. He deserves to - but that is football."
Sir Alex Ferguson wasalso full of praise for Ronaldo, believing that he was the difference betweenthe two teams. “Arsenal just couldn’t handle Ronaldo tonight. He was the difference between the two teams. Of course it helped that our midfield worked its socks off, we held a good shape and covered our defensive positions well.
"But we needed someone to give Arsenal real problems and when Cristiano is in that form he’s a fantastic player. His second goal was a marvellous team effort. Arsenal were throwing everything forward but we caught them on the counter-attack. The speed of our play was fantastic.â€
