Ronaldo Chases World Player Award

Cristiano Ronaldo has reveleaed that he hopes to win the FIFA World Player of the Year Award - hoping that his Champions League and Premiership double (and 42 goals) is enough to lift him from his third-placed finish last year to the top of the podium.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a sensational season last year, with practically everything he touched turning to Gold - perhaps his only memorable mistakes were from the penalty spot (against West Ham, Barcelona and Chelsea) which would have seen him even further away in the goals table than he was already!

"I think that I had very positive campaign last season. It would be a dream that becomes reality to win it. Not any player has done what I did last season.

"I believe I can win it this year."

Meanwhile, he expressed his frustration at being injured.

"I have never experienced a situation like this, being two months without kicking a ball. I just want to be fully recovered," he told Portuguese broadcaster SIC.

"I am not used to being sidelined. I feel sad, but the worst moment has already gone and I recognise that I must patient. I feel well, and the time of kicking a ball is coming. Playing football - this is what makes me happy."

Not long now...
