Ronaldo News Round Up
The Real Madrid transfer player-unsettling machine rumbles on and on, in spite of being reported to FIFA, with the Press taking the story up where Real have had to stop.
The Press still aren't sure what the next step is, although all agree that nothing will happen until Portugal are out of Euro 2008 (which means this story will last until the end of June at the very least...).
The Times reports that Real Madrid are getting the paperwork in place to launch a £60m bid for Ronaldo once he is able to talk business, whilst others have reported that Cristiano Ronaldo's agent is upset because David Gill (Manchester United's Chief Executive) has said there is no chance of a new contract for Ronaldo so soon into the one he signed last October.
Perhaps on Ronaldo's orders, Cristiano's brother and sister have been speaking to the Press, with both expecting a move to Madrid imminently.
Older bro Hugo told laSexta, "Between now and next year or the year after he will go to Real Madrid. Personally, I would like that. I'd like it very much."
His sister Elma, meanwhile, was slightly more cautious, although she did state that this was Ronaldo's dream since he was a small boy. "He won't decide anything until after the Euros," she said.
His mother has a different take on these things - "He is fine where he is," said the Manchester United star's mother was quoted as telling Portuguese television station TVI. "The future only God knows, but what is sure is that he is going to continue in England."
Cristiano Ronaldo is being reported to have turned into a 'recluse' in the Portuguese camp - locking himself away in his room when he is not playing football, although teammate Deco has said that this is nonsense, and Ronaldo is not letting the transfer talk affect him.
