Ronny: 48hrs to Decide
Cristiano Ronaldo has set himself a deadline before he clears the air. With Real Madrid officials more than likely sent into overdrive to get the right paperwork in place, Ronaldo has said that he wants to confirm his future within the next 48 hours.
Speaking after Portugal's 2-0 win over Georgia, Ronaldo told Portuguese newspaper A Bola: "Let's see, I hope there will be news soon. In two to three days I will announce my decision."
Meanwhile, it seems Real are bracing themselves (and their fans) for the possibility that Ronaldo stays on at Manchester United for another season. President Ramon Calderon, who has been speaking about Cristiano in the Press for the last 6 weeks, cooled down expectations this morning:
"We would like to have a player like Cristiano, but if he does not sign for us then it would not be a major problem," the president told Marca.
"The club has said that they do not want to sell him and we cannot keep going back. One has to know when to stop these things in order to avoid the frustration that the fans could feel.
"His club have to want to and if they want to negotiate with Madrid or any other club then they will."
