United Report Real over Ronny
Manchester United have reported Real Madrid for their persistent tapping up and talking to Cristiano Ronaldo, which is a blatant flout of the international transfer legislation.
Real Madrid's chairman Snr Calderon has been talking about Cristiano Ronaldo since the turn of the year, first saying that they were going to get him, then admitting that such a signing was impossible, and then remarking on how flattered they are that Cristiano has said he wants to join them.
Its not just Calderon, Manager Bernt Schuster, and Real players Pepe, van Nistelrooy and Puyol have all been making noisesto the Press about our Portuguese star.
The news of United reporting Real came in a statement on their official website: "On 27 May, Manchester United made clear its intention to report Real Madrid to FIFA if it continued to involve itself in the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.
"Unfortunately, Real Madrid has not kept its own counsel and the Club feels it has no alternative but to make a formal complaint to the world governing body, which it has done today.
"The precise content and nature will remain confidential.
FIFA have confirmed that they have received the document.
Quite what Cristiano makes of all this, and how well it will be helping him to perform in Euro 2008, is unknown, but he must equally be impressed at how far Sir Alex is willing to push things to make sure he keeps hold of his man.
