Roma: We Know about Ronaldo
Roma duo Christian Panucci and Mancini have issued a warning to Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming the Portuguese will not be protected by the referee in Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash between the two clubs.
United travel to the Italian capital for what looks to be an intriguing quarter-final, to face a Roma side second in Serie A and in an optimistic frame of mind with regards progression to the competition's last four.
Panucci, who has first hand experience of English football courtesy of his sojourn at Chelsea, is of the opinion in-form Ronaldo 'abuses' his talent, in being too quick to invite challenges and take a tumble.
While Panucci concedes that this season has seen Ronaldo establish himself as one of Europe's top talents, his inclination for stimulation will pose questions for the match officials - which he believes they will answer in the correct manner.
"Ronaldo's class is unquestionable," he is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.
"But I believe he abuses his dribbling talents and always exaggerates his falls.
"A lot will depend on the referee but in Roma Ronaldo will not be daring enough to do it because we will not fall for his tricks."
Brazilian Mancini has echoed the sentiments of his team-mate, of a similar mindset with regards the protection Ronaldo is granted.
"I've watched Premier League matches and he is protected by referees," said Mancini.
"I don't think he will be on Wednesday."
