Ronaldo in the News
Cristiano Ronaldo was all over the papers on Wednesday morning - with the Italian newspapers covering exactly what the players thought of Cristiano after their devastating 2-0 loss.
We thought it was just fantastic skill and entertaining for the fans - but its not what Pizarro and Conti (amongst other Romans) thought!
DAVID PIZARRO (Roma Player): "There is no doubt that he has quality, but it is also true that he has a big head. Some of his little tricks in the middle of the pitch were unnecessary and he needs to show some respect to his opposition. You can bet that we will have something to say about it in the return leg."
BRUNO CONTI (Roma Director): "He may be a champion with great skill, but there are signs that he is a boy and he needs to grow up. It is annoying to see certain occasions when he mocks the opposition because there are great players who behave differently."
World Cup Winning Italian manager Marcello Lippi stuck up for Cristiano, with Ronny also responding himself to the showboater claims!
MARCELLO LIPPI (ex-Italy Manager): "I must admit, when I first saw him doing all those fakes, I thought he was trying it on, but I was then proved wrong. I soon realised that this is simply his way of playing. He means no disrespect to anyone, it's his way."
CRISTIANO RONALDO: "It's nothing against my rivals! Those plays are just part of my way of interpreting football. I have always done them, even three or four years ago when I was younger.
"But there are plays that I do for the good of the team and never to ridicule my opponents. I tried to do the best for Manchester United and not to make a show. It's just a part of who I am."
With 36 goals, countless assists and some match winning performances, we don't want Ronny to change one bit!'
