Ronaldo Banned for 2 Games

Cristiano Ronaldo's red card has had an immediate impact - he has been banned for two games.

In spite of protesting his inocence (and the video makes the challenge look innocent enough), the Spanish FA's Competition Committee have decided to give him a two-match ban.

His team-mate, Sergio Ramos, backed Ronaldo.

"We all think Cristiano never intended to hurt the player and we believe the suspension is unfair. Duda hit me with his elbow and nothing happened. It was an involuntary action, just like Ronaldo's. Messi did the same against Sevilla, but he was lucky not to hit the player's face."
