Cristiano Ronaldo: I'm a Slave
Cristiano Ronaldo is on the backpages once more following an interview with a Portuguese TV channel.
With FIFA Head Sepp Blatter insisting that to keep a player at a club was modern slavery, Cristiano said he was in complete agreement.
Blatter told Sky News: "I'm always in favour of protecting the player and if the player wants to leave let him leave. If the player wants to play somewhere else, then a solution should be found because if he stays in a club where he does not feel comfortable to play then it's not good for the player and for the club.
"I think in football there's too much modern slavery in transferring players or buying players here and there, and putting them somewhere.
Cristiano followed up these comments, which have been ruled out as ridiculous by many commentators, by telling teh world "I agree with what he said. It's true. I agree with what the president of Fifa said. I know what I want and what I would like. We have to see what happens.
He also put to bed rumours that he has already signed for Real - insisting that "At the moment there is no agreement with Real Madrid. Now I have to wait and see but I do not know where I will begin the season."
Even if he does move to Real Madrid, he won't get a chance to play at the Bernabeu for a few months yet - his ankle injury is set to take anything up to 12 weeks to mend fully.
"It's confirmed I'll be out of action for up to 12 weeks but recovery is going well," said the Portugal star. "I must focus on my recovery. I'll be training with a ball in two months."
