Kaka Rescues Liga Dream
Kaka scored the winner to keep Real's title dreams alive, after an unconvincing opening left the Madrileno's a goal down. They remain just one point behind Barca, but without the distraction of the Champions League.
The Whites dictated the pace early with overwhelming possession of the ball, while Zaragoza relied on aggressive tactics to keep the visitors from giving their football any continuity.
The match had barely gotten under way when Higuain found Cristiano Ronaldo alone in front of Roberto, who kept the Whites off the scoreboard. Minutes later the keeper had little trouble stopping another powerful right-footer by the Portuguese forward.
The pace increased but Real Madrid continued dominating possession. Raul put the Whites ahead after Cristiano Ronaldo found him alone in front of goal at the start of the second half.
Zaragoza let their tempers get the best of them and Contini was sent off after elbowing Higuain, but even a man down they managed to pull level. Colunga slipped behind the defence, feinted passed Casillas and rolled the ball home.
Ramos sent a header off the woodwork and both Guti and Cristiano Ronaldo had shots blocked before Kaka scored the winner in his first match back after being sidelined for 45 days, with just 7 minutes to go!
