Zinedine Zidane has praised Cristiano Ronaldo
Zinedine Zidane has praised Cristiano Ronaldo’s contribution in Real Madrid’s 4-2 win over Athletic Bilbao.
Ronaldo recently spoke about spending the next two seasons at Real Madrid amidst suggestions that he would be joining either Manchester United or Paris St Germain in the summer. Since his appointment as the new manager, Zidane has been in praise of the Portuguese superstar. He now claims that the world got to see the best of the 30-year-old in the game against Athletic Bilbao. The obvious quality possessed by the former Manchester United superstar was obvious to see according to Zidane.
This was the third consecutive victory for the Frenchman and it was possible thanks to a brace from Ronaldo. James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos secure the other goals for the club, which had defender Rafael Varane sent off for a second yellow card in the second half. After the high-scoring games against Espanyol and Sporting Gijon, the club where disappointed to see only two goals going in favour against Granada. The weak head-to-head record against Barcelona means that Madrid need to be scoring at a high rate. The club moved within a point of the Catalan club following this victory, but their arch rivals have two games in hand.
After struggling for goals in the first half, Ronaldo is back at the top of the la Liga goalscoring charts with 21 to his name."About Cristiano, what can I tell you? You [journalists] are here to give your opinion on whether he played good or bad, if he is finished or not.He has shown today that he is bloody brilliant, if you will excuse the phrase. He is in good form. I am very happy for James -- he had missed scoring goals. Bit by bit, he is picking up that rhythm and importance in team," Zidane said.
