ZIDANE CONCERNED BY FORM
Zinedine Zidane admitted for the first time that he is left concerned about the team’s form after they could only manage a narrow 2-1 win over Las Palmas during the weekend.
Real Madrid were expected to comfortably beat the opponents, who are just three points above the drop zone.
However, things have been turning sour in the Madrid camp of late and the result against Las Palmas is an exact documentation. Sergio Ramos opened the scoring early in the first half before a late goal from Willian José gave a huge scare to the away team.
However, Madrid were able to come away with the full three points thanks to another late goal from defensive midfielder Casemiro. The club also had defender Ramos sent off for a second yellow card in injury time, but they held on for this narrow victory. Had Madrid dropped more points, they would have been struggling to even finish in the second spot.
Real Madrid continue to trail their arch rivals Atletico by four points with nine matches left. Any hope of winning the title has dissolved a long time ago with Barcelona 12 points ahead in the table. Zidane became the club’s new manager after replacing Rafa Benitez nine weeks ago - with such a big margin, and Barcelona playing so well at the moment, we're not sure it's worth a bet, even with a promocode to get you better odds!?
"I go away happy with the result, but a little worried with what I saw in the second-half. We gave the ball away an incredible amount of times and if we want to achieve anything this season we have to play better, that's clear. We won't get anywhere playing like this. We aren't thinking about the Champions League. If we want to aspire to something in the future, we have to play better. That is clear because playing like this we won't go anywhere," said Zidane, whose team are against Sevilla next week.
