RONALDO WON'T SIGN FOR SPORTING - AGENT

Jorge Mendes has revealed that Juventus attacker Cristiano Ronaldo won't return to his native Portugal to play for recently crowned league champions Sporting Lisbon. Mendes is the agent of Cristiano Ronaldo and according to him, the Portuguese national team captain won't be joining Sporting Lisbon.

Ronaldo came through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon beforehe made his professional debut at the club. He moved to Manchester United from the club in the summer of 2003.

Mendes spoke to the Daily Record about the possibility of his client signing for Sporting Lisbon this summer. He said that Cristiano Ronaldo is proud of Sporting Lisbon and their achievement of winning the league title in the Portuguese top flight ahead of rivals Benfica and FC Porto before adding that the career path of the 36-year-old do not go through Portugal.

The future of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus is in doubt as he has just one year left on his contract at the club. He signed a four-year deal with the Old Lady when he joined from Spanish champions Real Madrid in 2018. Juventus and Ronaldo have a big decision to make on the future of the player.

Juventus might need to decide if they want to retain his services with the astronomical wages that comes with it or let him go this summer to free up a lot of money usually paid to him as his salary. The Old Lady must decide if they want to offer the player a new deal, sell him this summer with one year remaining on his deal at the club or wait till next summer when his contract expires.

Also, whether Juventus secure Champions League football could also play a big part in the future of Cristiano Ronaldo at the club. Ahead of their league meeting with Inter Milan this weekend, Juventus are in fifth place and outside the required four Champions League places by a point. All the teams have two games to play. Lack of Champions League football could lead to the exit of Ronaldo.
