GERRARD & RONALDO WIN IT
Cristiano Ronaldo didn't manage to to the PFA player awards, as voted for by the players - making them the most important awards in the industry.
It has to be said that it was only because he plays alongside a certain Wayne Rooney that he failed to register the votes, with the whole of the nation's footballers becoming suspiciously patriotic as we gear up for the World Cup.
Ronaldo was beaten to the Young Player Award by Rooney, who has won for the past two years, whilst the full award went to the deserving Steven Gerrard - what would things have been like if he'd decided to move to Chelsea as planned last summer?!
However, there was some good news for Ronaldo, as he was voted into the PFA team of the year. This is the Premiership 'Dream Team', again voted for by players. He lined up alongside Henry, Rooney and Terry in a team that is sure to bring fear to all teams that were handed the team-sheet just before the match!
The team in Full:
Shay Given (Newcastle), Pascal Chimbonda (Wigan), John Terry (Chelsea), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), William Gallas (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), Thierry Henry (Arsenal), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).
